Please join IPLAC's Copyright Committee and musicologist Judith Finell for a presentation about navigating the relationship between technology, music and copyright law.  Judith will discuss several key cases, play snippets of music and provide a thorough analysis and dissection of the issues, the role of a musicologist and how copyright factors into these disputes.

Judith is a musicologist and president of Judith Finell MusicServices Inc.  She previously served as a consultant and expert witness in music copyright infringement cases, and was the testifying expert for the Marvin Gaye family in the “Blurred Lines” case in Federal Court.  She and her team regularly advise companies such as HBO, Lionsgate, CBS, Warner, Disney and Sony Pictures on musical works for commercials, films, and television series.  Judith has taught the only forensic musicology course in the country at UCLA since 2019.
