Protecting Traditional Knowledge & Indigenous Culture: Development of the WIPO Treaty on Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge
Join IPLAC to learn about the protection of traditional knowledge and Indigenous culture and how WIPO member states came to adopt the first WIPO Treaty to include provisions specifically for Indigenous Peoples as well as local communities.
Our speakers will be Sean L. Collin, Esq., who is of Cherokee, Powhatan, Scottish, Irish, French, English, Austrian, German, and Jewish descent and who is licensed to practice law in three countries, has worked on intellectual property matters in more than 60 countries, and has lectured in more than 15 countries, and Wend Wendland, former Director of WIPO’s Traditional Knowledge Division who was instrumental in bringing the WIPO Treaty into force.
